Golf Sponsor Signs To Reward Your Sponsors

September 10th, 2010

The generosity of sponsors is what makes tournaments possible and the tiny golf sponsor signs may be on their way out to be replaced with a new generation of sponsor material. Fortunately for tournament organizers and golf fans, golf sponsors are not only believers in the cause, and are willing to sponsor tournaments when they receive very little in return. Well that is the nature of charity but in return for their generosity, most tournament organizers reward sponsors with black and white signs that are close to invisible.

The most commonly used signs for golf sponsors, are small black and white printed cards lacking any trace of individuality. These small signs were only notable because of the fact they are so forgettable. While these inconspicuous signs are certainly discrete, they have always seemed a poor way to thank a business for their financial support.

Sponsors almost always strongly believe in and support the causes they sponsor. The signs are sold to sponsors in order to help take the burden of hosting from an organization which could ill afford it and spread it around. The idea works and sponsors are usually plentiful for these events but most sponsors would donate more in order to receive a more personalized sign.

With new technology, more printing and sign companies and a greater access to all of it online the choices for sponsor hole signs are almost unlimited. A card could actually be printed on paper inserted into a plastic sleeve and be a duplicate of the current logo and colors of that sponsor for the hole. The signs can be put away for next year and the extra cost defrayed by raising the sponsor hole sign prices a little more.

Businesses who strongly support local tournaments have been known to order expensive custom golf signs when acceptable to the organizers. It certainly provides better value to the business but a better answer could be for the organizers to begin to offer these signs instead. Or to allow placement of a custom sign for an increased donation. The custom cards need be no larger than the standard signs but certainly can stand out more.

A golf tournament is normally an event, which holds to the highest standards in what is considered tasteful. While a stock car racetrack might be lined with brightly colored billboards that screamed out the sponsor name, a golf tournament usually has discrete and easily overlooked sponsor names. Discretion is excellent and good taste important, and both can be served with a custom sponsor sign.

Good taste in this case need not war with tradition. The most attractive feature is that these signs will not usually impose extra costs on the organization holding the tournament. Instead, a customized sponsor sign can be a great way to say thank you to faithful supporters and have them pay for the privilege.

Golf Sponsor Signs To Reward Your Sponsors

There is nothing like a good golf tournament to really please golfers. They love the competitive atmosphere and also being a part of a charitable cause, if the tourney is such an event. But in addition to the play, golfers also look forward to receiving their golf tournament gifts. Players wonder what fun stuff is waiting for them inside the goody bags and cannot wait to find out.

If you are hosting or running a golf tourney, one of the things you need to cover are these bags. “Lame” gift bags can turn players off and may prevent them from returning to your event in the future. Good bags may be talked about long after the event and make for good word of mouth.

The bag itself is as important as what goes inside. If you want to use plastic, be sure to use only high quality, sturdy, thick bags. Your logo can go on the bag and therefore you want a good bag. Even better is a cloth bag. In today’s environmentally friendly world, people will appreciate receiving a reusable bag. And every time they reuse it, your name gets seen by more people.

Getting your name on a few of the items is part of what the gift bag is for. Try not to put your logo on everything. Just a few things with your name is sufficient. Common ideas for logoed stuff include marking pens, ball markers and hats. Once again, giving good quality items will keep them from ending up in the garbage.

Other inexpensive ideas for your name are mouse pads, golf tees, small towels, golf balls and can coolers. There are a few cute coolers that hold individual cans and also have a spot for tees, coins or other small items. Check online for discounts on great bag stuffers.

Having other sponsors pitch in is also a good idea. Local businesses are often happy to get the exposure of an event with small cost to them. Restaurants may be willing to donate coupons for free food or good discounts. Other businesses can also offer discounts or certificates for free trials of their products or services.

Get creative when adding new sponsors. Most golfers love free food and drink. Single serve packaged snacks and mini bottle of water or sports drinks go a long way with the players. The more good stuff that finds its way into the bags, the happier the players will be and the better word of mouth coverage you will get in the long run.

Golf tournament trophies are symbols given to a winner who has triumphed over a course or their own personal limitations. While trophy styles vary in styles and sizes some very simple items have become models for these cherished mementos. The oldest trophy in golf was the British open which had a claret jug as a trophy, is hardly usual and yet, fitting.

While many trophies have become famous for what they symbolize, they are not by any means standardized or sometimes even considered beautiful, but they are coveted by golfers. In a few cases, treasured mementos are as glittery as a gold plated golf ball. Other types of tournament trophies are golfing figures caught in mid swing and considered traditional they can range from solid wood bases with engraved plaques to molded metal trophies or even crystalline figures.

Everyday items may at times serve as extremely desirable tournament trophies. One such case is the U. S. Masters Green Jacket which though hardly unique is extremely desired because it goes only to the winner of the U. S Masters. The green jacket is worn by the current year winner and then returned to the club where the winner is entitled to wear it when they visit Augusta. A small gold medal is also awarded and doubtless has a place of pride in the trophy case.

While traditionally styled trophies are common enough occasionally trophies may be so unusual the winner is unsure what to do with it. The Abu Dhabi trophy is one such unique prize. It was made with a very large silver base with a gold golf ball perched atop it and a very large eagle atop the golf ball.

A trophy that almost requires a room of its own is the Dubai Desert Classic trophy from 2009. This beautifully crafted middle east styled jug or pitcher is exquisitely designed, beautifully detailed and about half the size of the winner of that tournament. Lifting that trophy was surely a feat of strength.

The rule seems to be that there are no rules when it comes to these coveted prizes. While there may be little real value attached to them they are priceless to the recipient. In most cases a winner will display the trophy as prominently as they can no matter how it is styled because it means they have triumphed.

Nothing in any rule book written says that a trophy has to be a certain size or to appeal to a certain group of viewers. In the eyes of the player a green jacket or a miniature of the Barclay bank are both prizes and both deserve equally prominent spots. A trophy need not be a symbol directly related to golf, it can be anything but it is still a treasure beyond price for the winning golfer.
